The Minister of
Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will host
and chair an ad-hoc ministerial committee of countries
representing all the African Union regions in Sun
City, South Africa from Monday, 20th-Tuesday,
21st January 2003
The meeting will
discuss proposed amendments to the Constitutive Act of
the African Union that could not be finalised during
the first session of the Executive Council that took
place in Tripoli, Libya from 9-10 December 2002.
These amendments
were tabled during the Summit of Heads of State and
Government at the launch of the African Union held in
Durban in July 2002. The Durban Summit then agreed to
convene an Extra-ordinary Summit of Heads of State and
Government to consider the proposed amendments that
will be held from 2nd-4th
February 2003 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Foreign
Ministers of the following countries will attend the
meeting in South Africa: Algeria, Burundi, Chad,
Equitorial-Guinea. Ethiopia, Ghana, Lesotho, Libya,
Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania,
Tunisia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
